Brussels, 24 April 2020

With partner CSOs, research institutes, academia and product development partnerships (PDPs) engaged in advancing global health, Global Health Advocates endorsed an open letter to MEPs urging them to support an increased budget for health cluster in the EU future research and innovation (R&I) framework programme, « Horizon Europe ».

Despite the urgent need for strong public funding for R&I in health in the current COVID-19 outbreak, the last draft agreement for Horizon Europe foresees to decrease its budget for the health cluster, passing from 9,7% of the overall budget to 8,2%. We ask MEPs to make sure health R&I is prioritised by earnmarking no less than 10% of Horizon Europe budget for the health cluster.
