Country performance towards the GAVI Alliance – Donor Immunisation Record

GAVI’s Mid-Term Review is about evaluating progresses since 2011 in terms of vaccines’ roll out. It also provides us an opportunity to have a closer look at where donors stand in fulfilling their pledges to GAVI

To that end, Global Health Advocates, as part of the global health advocacy ACTION partnership, developed a “Donor Immunisation Record” that reviews donors’ commitments to the GAVI Alliance. This score card (attached) tracks how the 17 donors that provide nearly 80% of GAVI’s current funding are faring in delivering on their commitments to GAVI.

While many GAVI donors are on track to fulfill their commitments, those donors ‘in progress’ must commit to deliver their promised funds. In particular, countries with annual funding agreements with GAVI, such as US, must ensure they secure the parliamentary or congressional approvals needed to deliver their pledges. In the case of France, which has legally committed most of its pledge, the French government must program the remaining EUR 22 million of its direct pledge for 2014 and 2015. Urgent follow up is necessary to ensure several donors – particularly Australia, the European Union, Japan, the United States, and Denmark – extend their current pledges to 2015.
